Ogiame Ikenwoli Inaugurates 1st Board of Trustees of the Itsekiri Trust Fund (video)

20th of August, 2020, was a significant day in the history of Warri Kingdom; Ogiame Ikenwoli approved, and inaugurated the board of trustees of The Itsekiri Trust Fund at a unique ceremony held at Aghofen, the palace of the Olu of Warri.

The hybrid ceremony, necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic, was well attended both with physical presence of by Itsekiri of all works of life representing Itsekiri communities and similarly online via the ZOOM virtual meeting platform.

Ogiame Ikenwoli gave his royal directive for the setup and set out the goals for the ITF, while Mr Austine Ometoruwa, the chairman of the board, responded on behalf of the trustees. In his inaugural acceptance speech, Mr Ometoruwa thanked Ogiame for the honour and privilege bestowed on him and his fellow trustees to serve the good people of Iwereland, and further highlighted that Iwereland’s most considerable wealth is its people and pointed out the three (3) issues that will be critical to the success of the Trust’s success, namely, (a) a focus on Itsekiri’s most valuable wealth, (b) Reimagining Iwereland’s current development and financing model, from an entitlement, philanthropy and consumption approach to a focus on creating wealth and investments, and (c) the Strategic Mission of the Itsekiri Trust Fund.
